About this work
The folklore tales are taken from: E. & M. A. Radford, Encylopaedia of Supersitions and D. James, Folk and Modern Medicine.
The tales contain cures for ailments, for example, a cure for earache (dropping snail froth into the infected ear), and a cure for skin itches (treating the infected area with hot water and soft soap applied with a corncob, followed by a lotion composed of lard and sulphur or gunpowder).
