Small volume of diary entries and sketches made during Galton's 1840 excursion from Griesen to Linz, Vienna, Constantinople, Smyrna, Syra, and Athens.

Enclosed is a pencil sketch of a port in Smyrna, as seen from a boat.

[Plant specimens were inserted into the volume on ff 38r and ff 78v-ff 79r; these have been removed and mounted separately for conservation purposes.]
