Biographical note

Easterbrook Hall was built between 1934 and 1938 and was designed by Crichton Royal Institution Clerk of Works, James Flett. It housed the majority of the hospital's occupational and recreational therapy and physical treatment facilities. Facilities provided in the new building included, a large recreation hall, canteen, library, hairdressers, dental surgery, operating theatre, electrotherapy department, x-ray department, gymnasium, sports courts and a hydrotherapy department with a swimming pool. It was officially opened on 18 October 1938 with an opening ceremony at which Dr C. C. Easterbook was invited to officiate, followed by a luncheon.
