Recipients include the Paris-based physician Sir Joseph Olliffe (1808-1869) (no. 3) and "Dr. Brodie", probably the surgeon Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie (1783-1862) (no. 10).
No. 1 describes the visit to Edinburgh of the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875).
