Description

An Essay towards the illustrating of the Antiquities of the Right Honourable Families of the Lords D'Arcie, Conyers and Mennil [Meynell], and of the Right Worshipfull Family of the Meltons of Aston ... Digested out of Deeds, public Records, and Pedigrees, the great Book of the Collections of the Right Honourable Cogniers Lord D'Arcie of Hornbye, and the MSS. of Mr. Roger Dodsworth, Mr. Gascoigne and Mr. Hopkinson, and the Miscellany Notes of Mr. Townley of Cave ... and several others. By Nathaniel Johnston of Pontefract ... Doctor of Physick, Anno Domini 1677. The MS. is very carefully written, and was possibly a copy prepared for the press, but never published. The original holograph copy was in the possession of the Duke of Leeds, who inherited it from the Earl of Holderness. [Cf.
