Biographical note

Under the Lunacy Act of 1890 (53 Vict. C.5), medical journals were required to be kept for persons under supervision as single patients in private houses not licensed for the reception of lunatics. They normally contain a medical statement, followed by notes on visits by the patient's medical attendant.
