I, William Oppenheimer, of 1 and 3 Sun Street, and 39 Wilson Street, Finsbury Square, London E.C. Manufacturing Chemist do hereby declare the nature of my said invention to be as follows : — My invention relates to the forms of medical preparations which are known as 5 capsules, wafers, pills, granular, or compressed drugs, which are intended to dissolve in the stomach, and thus set free the medicine where it is intended to operate ; and the object of my invention is to improve and extend the use of such preparations by manufacturing them in the form of compound carpels, with a different kind of medicine in each carpel, so arranged that mixture of the medicines will not take 10 place until the capsule wafer, pill, granule or any form of compressed drugs is dissolved in the stomach or elsewhere and the medicines are free to mix. In carrying out my invention, I use capsules wafers, pills, granules or any form of compressed drugs of any convenient form, such as the lentil or double convex lens, globular, semi-globular, double-globular, or of any other preferred shape ; and 1 5 containing two or more kinds of medicine consisting of compatible or incompatible drugs, which are kept entirely separate by a division wall or walls, formed of soluble or insoluble substances, which will enable the medicines to mix together when taken into the stomach. The enclosed medicine may be in the form of powder, fluid, or solid, as found 20 best suited to the required treatment. The medicines so prepared may be dissolved or mixed in water or any other suitable matter and taken as a draught, if preferred. Dated 29th January 1891. GEO. I, William Oppenheimer, of 1 and 3 Sun Street and 39 Wilson Street, 30 Finsbury Square, London E.C'., Manufacturing Chemist, do lieieby declare the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is. to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: My invention relates to those forms of medicine which are conveyed into the system intact, and medicines of a compound matter which in the compound foim 35 are subject to deterioration and are only intended to dissolve and intermix after being taken into the stomach or elsewhere, where they are intended to operate , and the object of my invention is to improve and extend the use of such preparations, by manufacturing them in the form of compound carpels, cells or receptacles with a different kind of medicine or drug in each carpel. 40 In carrying out my invention, 1 make the compound medicines as capsules, wafers, pills, or granules, of any convenient form, such as the lentil or double convex lens ; or globular, semi-globular, double-globular, or of any other pieferred shape ; and of any suitable substance such as a compound of gelatine gum and sugar or other suitable material which will open in the presence of aqueous moistuie [Prict 6rf.]
