The receipts are written by several hands.
On the recto of first leaf 'W. Lowther his book': this is probably Sir William Lowther of Marske [1670-1705]. There are also numerous entries bearing the names of other members of the family.
Lower corner of first leaf torn off and repaired, damp-stains affecting the last 26 lines and causing loss of text.
