About this work

Description

1 artwork identified by Rita Simon's pseudonym "Tuberculosis Patient 12 - Mrs Bird" which shows a series of overlaid black and ochre dabs. Rita Simon said: "For such a disturbed old lady, the paintings are on the whole very serene. This one is an exception. The thick black paint would have come first. There is no real space. The style is unclassifiable, it is style determined by change of mood."

The quote above is taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The title has been supplied by the cataloguer for identification purposes.

The date documenting when the artwork was made is written on the verso of the painting.

The sequence number of the artwork is written on the verso.
