About this work

Description

Comprises files regarding the redevelopment of the Hinxton site after it was purchased by the Wellcome Trust in 1993. The existing Hinxton Hall was refurbished to become a conference centre and plans were developed for new buildings to house the Sanger Centre, European Bioinformatics Institute and Medical Research Council's Human Genome Mapping Project Resource Centre. The site was later named the Wellcome Turst Genome Campus and was officially opened on 8 October 1997 by the Princess Royal.
