Biographical note

The Family Welfare Association's Marriage Welfare Committee ceased to operate when the Family Discussion Bureau moved over to the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations. It was then replaced by an Advisory Panel. Members were drawn from universities, local authorities, the Probation Department of the Home Office, social work agencies, and other voluntary sector organisations, including the Family Planning Association, many of whom represented users of the FDB's services. The Panel was wound up in 1961 and replaced with an annual meeting.
