About this work

Description

John Carter is a UK-born thalidomider who has always loved to see his impairments as a way of playing tricks on unsuspecting members of the public. John recounts many stories of his antics over the years. He has never had a career and lived with his mother until she died. After a brief spell of internet dating he met his partner Joy who he currently lives with along with a menagerie of birds, fish and dogs. Parts 1 and 2 of the interviews took place in John’s home in Woking on 20 November 2012. Part 3 did not take place due to John’s ill health.
