Although Dr. Duckworth disclaims the intention of asking the votes of the Governors of St. Bartholomew’s Hospital on the present occasion in opposition to his senior, Dr. Church, it seems fitting, nevertheless, that he should submit to them those pretensions which, in other circum¬ stances, might have entitled him to their support. I have great satisfaction in bearing witness to the justice of his claims they are based on a profound knowledge of his profession, the result oft earnest study and an extended philosophical course, and on a felicitous: power of imparting this knowledge to others. With such qualifications Dr. Duckworth may rightly cherish the ambition of serving St. Bartholo¬ mew’s Hospital as one of its Medical Officers. In appreciation of them, I take the liberty of introducing him to the Governors of St. Bartholomew’s Hospital as deserving their high con¬ sideration. P. Black. No. 4.
