About this work

Description

Jean Norris' class notebooks, in her role as antenatal teacher. The notebooks record the progress of antenatal classes through details of mothers taking antenatal courses and their attendance, including details of the labour and delivery, and a checklist of NCT services offered (eg, nursing bra, leaflets, film, booking fee, annual report), and other details of note. Some records also include name and occupation of husband, and age and address of mother. Towards the rear of the book, there is often a list of mothers' names, birth date, type of birth (forceps, normal, premature, twins, etc), and name of child. Some of the books also include teaching exercises and questions to ask prospective mothers during classes about their birth expectations, breastfeeding, and caring for their baby.
