Biographical note
Project Summary:"Air Pressure' is a gallery installation, CD and art book that together engage with the acoustic environment of the last remaining farmer and his family living at the end of Japan's Narita airport runway. Based on the site specific approach to assessing aircraft noise of Professor Hiramatsu, we will create a simulacrum of a Narita farm building conceived of as an imaginative "stress laboratory'. This will allow the audience a vicarious, immersive experience of the study site, direct engagement with the physiological measurements typically deployed in bio-acoustic research and an opportunity to address debates on the impact of aircraft noise.
