Photograph of a parturition or birthing chair used in Samar, the Republic of the Philippines, and named Sandigan, a tagalog word meaning back of a seat or support. The item was previously part of the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum but is not held by Wellcome Collection. Another photograph of this image was accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 12th October 1935 (PHO 5268).
