About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Archaic Massive style, depicting two houses in a black field beneath a red sunset. The picture started as a brilliant hypermanic emotion, then became black. The patient's house is lit up on the right, and separated from her father's house on the left. It was produced by a female schizophrenic patient at a psychiatric day hospital. She moved into sheltered accommodation and married another patient. This information has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The title has been supplied by the cataloguer for identification purposes.

The artwork is undated.
