Manuale vade mecum

A collection of extracts and notes from alchemical Authors: in Latin and German. On fol. 20 is a pen-drawn symbolic 'Naturae Speculum'.

1 volume [205 ff.]. obl. 8vo. 15 1/2 × 20 cm. Original vellum binding, from a leaf of a 15th cent. German legal [?] document. Some leaves have been torn out at the end, and a few margins have been repaired. There is an original pagination from 1 to 205 and from 232 to 278, with 62 ll. unpaginated, but it is very irregular: a foliation in pencil has now been added.

Purchased at Sotheby's 28/1/1935, Lot 19 (part).
