Description

Todd, John Lancelot: Congo Free State as a political unit. Typescript with a few holograph additions and corrections. A lecture given during the author's visit to Western Canada to study 'Swamp Fever' in horses. It was addressed to the St. James' Literary Society [of Winnipeg?], and contains a defence of the Congo Free State, at that time under strong criticism for alleged atrocities on natives in the rubber plantations.
