Accounts of what the Thalidomide Society is and what is does, with brief histories of the formation and progress of the Society, the stages in the settlement of thalidomide injury claims, summaries of the effects of thalidomide.

Further includes extracts from a lecture on "The history of thalidomide" given at the 1992 UNITH Congress by the German medical geneticist Professor Widukind Lenz, who originally uncovered the teratogenic effects of the drug during the early stages of pregnancy. UNITH stands for United International Thalidomides, the international thalidomide society. A copy of the entire lecture can be found at PP/SML/E/11/3.
