About this work

Description

A grouping of amateur films which relate to a travelling eye-clinic (mobile trachoma unit) which was in Iran in 1965 (film already catalogued and digitised), 1967 and perhaps later in the early 1970s. The black and white films are under-exposed and dark and relate to setting up the patient clinics and treating men, women and children and keeping records. There is a single undated colour film with the mobile unit still in the UK. The material isn't edited but compiled in a sequence suggested by a numbering scheme annotated on the original boxes.

Notes

This is a compliation of 10 out of 58 films which formed part of an additional accession in 2015 to a group of films donated to the Wellcome Trust in 2006 by The British Medical Association. The material originates from the Institute of Ophthalmology and it isn't clear when they arrived at the BMA.
Boxes for the individual film reels have been retained and packed flat.
