About this work
Description
A painting in Rita Simon's Archaic Massive style, depicting a red portcullis in a wall. The artwork was produced by a troubled 12 year old boy during a summer school. According to Rita Simon it was not a therapeutic situation and the child frightened of painting. This information is taken from conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.
The title and date have been taken from wording written on the verso.
