About this work

Description

Letters appealing, not always successfully, for gifts of money and negotiating over the establishment of trusts, with ensuing deeds and settlements, were found bundled together in labelled packets similar to those containing the early correspondence (F.4). Where there are only one or two letters per transaction, the material has been grouped together in file G.2/15, to which has been added a few stray letters about gifts, found among the material selected as 'historical'.

Biographical note

The correspondence about the much later Cullingworth Trust, providing bursaries for midwifery training (G.2/16), was among the `Archive' files, and the material about later bequests and legacies (G.2/17-22) was part of Accession 691, transferred in February 1997.
