About this work

Description

Documentary film produced by the Women and Work Hazards Group, funded by the Greater London Council Women's Committee, and broadcast on Channel 4 in 1985. The film examines the various health risks faced by women in the workplace, including dust and chemical exposure, the 'hidden' hazards of office work inadequate seating and visual display units, and the stress of long hours, low pay, insecure jobs and piece work. The film also addresses sexual harassment and the disparity of workplace status between women and men, and advocates unionisation, safety representatives, proper safety standards and greater awareness as the means of addressing all these issues.
