About this work

Description

Please note that as with other Physiological Society sub-committees, the title, format, and function of this sub-committee has not remained static.

The Animal Legislation and Welfare Sub-Committee (ALWSC) was formed as the Animal Welfare Sub-Committee (AWSC) in 1991 to deal with all aspects of animal welfare issues. It changed its title in 1997 to reflect its advisory activities and its expertise on the working of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 [Information taken from The Physiological Society, The Grey Book 1997/1998, p 7]. By 2008, it was called the Animal Welfare and Legislation Working Group.
