About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Massive style, depicting a veiw from the workroom window. It is the veiw of a town with buildings a bridge and smoke stacks. Rita Simon stated that the artwork was, "by a woman in her forties. She worked in a room with high windows, and wanted to paint a view of the Road, so she stood on a chair and rested the board on the window sill: it was a summer evening. At the top left, is it a new building or a bombed building? A very good example of the Traditional Massive style, a lot of feeling".

The title has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The date has been taken from other items in the section.
