Description

Photograph of the front, side and back views of a female Paleolithic figurine carved from mammoth ivory in 30000-20000 BC, known as the Venus of Lespugue. The object was found in the cave of Les Rideaux at the foothills of the Pyrenees in France. The object is held by the Musée de l'Homme in France. The original glass plate negative created in 1929 from which this digital image was taken no longer exists.
