Biographical note

A joint committee of the Joint Tuberculosis Council and the NAPT was founded in 1943. It aimed to spread knowledge about tuberculosis to medical, nursing and public health workers. In 1946 the Joint Committee formed the Tuberculosis Educational Institute to carry on its work. This organised refresher courses, offered scholarshiops, considered opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate education in tuberculosis, and published indices and abstracts of current literature. It wound up its affairs in 1960.
