Description
Audio recording of the dinner given by the Physiological Society and the Pharmacological Society in honour of Sir Henry Dale on his 80th birthday. Including speeches by the chair Ernst Basil Verney (introductory speech), Charles Lovatt Evans (toast speech, begins roughly 17 minutes and 6 seconds into the CD), and Sir Henry Dale (speech begins roughly 38 minutes 45 seconds into the CD). Chiefly reminiscences of each of their careers and the development of physiology in the 19th century and the twentieth century up to 1955. Dale speaks for approximately 41 minutes. There is also a toast to Winifred Cullis (1875-1956) (about 35 minutes 30 seconds into the second CD) who also makes a speech (about 36 minutes and eight seconds into the 2nd CD) about the admission of women to the Physiological Society (she speeks for about 4 minutes). At the end is a short toast to and speech by Professor [Park] of the University of London.
