About this work

Description

1 artwork identified by Rita Simon's pseudonym "Tuberculosis Patient 12 - Mrs Bird" which shows layers of dabs of paint in blue, red, black and grey in a cross configuration, possibly to represent a bird. Rita Simon said: "One thing I do not like about my classification is that the dial marked as ten past the hour has two meanings: it could mean half way between five past and twenty past, or it could mean a conflict between the two. In this case the diagonal is not a conflict-type."

The quote above was taken from conversations recorded between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The title has been supplied by information provided in notes taken during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The sequence number of the artwork is written on the verso.

Rita Simon classified this artwork as Archaic Transition.
