Description

Portrait of Sir Joseph Fayrer (1824-1907), an English physician who practiced in various parts of South and South East Asia in the 1880s. He was the chairman of the Medical Board of the India Office until 1895 where he retired with the rank of surgeon-general. This original portrait is from the officers mess found in Royal Victoria Military Hospital in Netley, Hampshire.
