Biographical note
The ICM/FIGO Joint study Group (JSG) Sub-committee and later the Steering/Editorial commitee was established to lead, develop and promote the JSG's aims and programme, including international surveys of midwifery training, national status and practice; and an extensive project to promote Family Planning and the role of the Midwife in less developed countries (LDCs). The JSG supported and worked in close cooperation with the ICM/USAID Project, and both groups shared some senior membership and joint representation on respective Sub, Steering and Editorial committees.
