Biographical note

The Human Genome Mapping Project (HGMP) was funded by the Medical Research Council. In 1990 it established the Human Genome Mapping Project Resource Centre (HGMP-RC) to provide biological materials, database access, analysis tools and training to scientists engaged in genome mapping and gene isolation research. The HGMP Co-ordinating Committee was established in 1994 to oversee the HGMP and was disbanded in 1998. Ashburner was a member of the committee from 1995-1998.
