Biographical note

As a result of the heavy legal costs involved in the proceedings of her enquiry, Savage relied on the financial support of voluntary donors. Donations came from many different sources and the Wendy Savage Appeal Fund was set up as a central body through which to coordinate and administer these funds.

The committee were also responsible for the organising of fundraising activities and for the coordination of public demonstrations of support.

After the enquiry, the remaining capital in the Fund was used to set up the Womanschoice research fellowship at the London Hospital. See PP/WDS/B.4 for more information on Womanschoice.
