Description
A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Linear style, depicting an alchemist sitting at a table working on an experiment. A woman sits watching him work. Both are in 18th Century dress. This painting was produced by the same artist as "A Roman Scene" (PP/RSI/B/2/6/16)
The title has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.
The date has been taken from other items in the section.
