About this work

Description

Series of typescript correspondence (numbered 1-10) between A. S. Blundell Bankart and E. Gordon Fleming, of Bentinck Street, London W.1, on chiropractic or spinal manipulation, in which they argue for and against chiropractic and osteopathy. Bankart, as an orthopaedic surgeon did not support them, arguing that they were not based on scientific fact, and Fleming argued that they should be given a wider field, greater credence and acceptance by the orthodox medical establishment. (At one point in the correspondence Fleming suggests they might have their dialogue published in a journal, however there is no evidence that this happened).
