About this work

Description

1 artwork identified by Rita Simon's pseudonym "Tuberculosis Patient 12 - Mrs Bird" which shows the outline of a head with small markings dotted over and around it in pencil and pink chalk. Rita Simon said: "I was doing research on styles and asked all the geriatrics to paint a king, a house, a landscape, and an interior. She got amazingly close to producing a face on this, her third work"

The quote above and the title are taken from conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The sequence number of the artwork is written on the verso of the painting.
