About this work

Description

This award was created through a gift to the Society by the widow of Dr Albert John Chalmers MD, FRCS, DPH, in her husband’s memory. It is now awarded annually (unless the Council considers in any year that no-one is worthy of receiving it), though initially biennially, in recognition of research contributing to the knowledge of tropical medicine or tropical, by persons under 45 years old. The file sequence as received has some gaps, and E.29/1, E Roubaud, 1923; E.29/9, Max Theiler, 1939; E.29/11, David G Davey, 1947; and E.29/12, James H S Gear, 1949 are not included

The files include letters and other documents relating to the nomination of individuals, their c.v.s and bibliographies, and there is material on the various nominees each year besides the one to whom it was finally awarded.
