Door open - apples on (artwork)

A painting in Rita Simon's Archaic Massive style, depicting a red house with a blue roof. The artwork was created by an autistic boy aged between 12 and 14. According to Rita Simon, although works by autistic children are generally in the Archaic Linear style she was hopeful about the child at this time, and worked with him one hour a week for four years. He learnt a lot from Rita Simon's my son and the painting shows the Archaic Massive features, but it did not last. This information is taken from conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The title and date have been taken from wording written on the verso.
