Description

[Begins:] En el Nonbre [sic] de Dios, y Señor nuestro, Para el tabardillo y otras acsidentes [sic] sus remedios. [Possibly produced in Amozoc de Mota, Puebla, Mexico.] In two principal hands; highly erratic spelling and syntax throughout. Ft.xr-19r: Popular remedies, principally for tabardillo, or exanthematic typhus; also, advice on recognising a good horse, veterinary remedies, and a table listing appropriate days for bleeding, purging, and general activities, according to the position of the moon in the zodiac. Ff. 19r-22v: Copy from an untraced printed source "Brebe istrusio [sic] o Cartilla de remedios, Practica para asistir y socorer alos pobres enfermos febrisitantes delos pueblos q. per tenesen ala probinsia depuebla for mada con este objeto de orden de la Junta probinsial de Sanidad; Pueb[l]a 1823." Ff. 22v-25v: Miscellaneous remedies. Originally bound with the same collection of remedies as WMS/Amer.47, 54 and 55, but not in the same hand; possibly associated with one leaf of WMS/Amer.15. Perhaps from the remedy book of an hacienda.
