Minute Book: Board of Directors, AGMs, EGMs

This volume contains minutes of meetings of the board of directors, EGMs and AGMs of the company, as well as some associated papers such as the reports of the board. Meetings of the board took place every 1-6 months for the most part. Some meetings were sometimes convened solely for the purposes of completing a transaction or transactions, others discussed more substantial business. There are particularly few board meetings documented in the early years covered by the volume. The main meetings of the board discussed matters such as: the administration of the company, the financial position of the company, individual employees (including information on their salaries), membership of the board, as well as statutory matters. There is an index at the front of this volume. The name of the company was altered to Stogol (Proprietary) Limited in 1961. Many of the copy minutes in the volume are stamped to indicate that they have been received by one or more departments in the main Coopers company in Berkhamsted, UK. A substantial reduction in earnings to the company, consequent upon a loss of a contract with the Rhodesian government, is noted on p. 13. It is resolved to make an especially low quotation for cattle dip to the "Union Government" [of South Africa] in order to increase turnover on p. 16. The registration of Dipco (Proprietary) Limited to act as a landowning & holding company for a joint venture of premises construction and maintenance with the African Wool & Mohair Corporation Limited is noted on pp. 113-115. The transfer of some plant and machinery to Vitamin Mineral Products (Proprietary) Limited, a related company, is noted on p. 166. A joint policy with Coopers for business in South West Africa is documented on pp. 198-201. pp. 250 onwards are blank.
