Drawings of an epidural and c-section at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, 4 May 1987.

A series of pencil drawings following a woman through labour on the maternity ward at John Radcliffe Hospital. The sketches show her changing positions, her discomfort and pain, and the care and support given by her partner and the hospital staff. Later images in the sequence illustrate the epidural and caesarean section. A photocopy of a drawing accompanying the series is of the newborn baby.
