About this work

Description

Notes of medical treatment undertaken by Simpson during his time as a POW. These are written on scraps of poor quality paper, sometimes giving the date and name of the camp where the patient was seen. Most of the patients he saw were suffering from malnutrition or oedema, sometimes both, and were prescribed treatments such as "2 eggs" or "dhal". The high turnover in the camps meant that follow up treatment was often impossible.

Also contains notes on cholera and malnutrition, "as seen in Siam, 1943", and noxious factors in liver disease.
