Correspondence and papers relating to the Council for Science and Society Working Party on Expensive Medical Techniques in the NHS, on which the Patients Association was represented. The Working Party's remit was to discuss expensive diagnostic techniques, treatments and drug development, the increasing role of technology in medicine and its impact on society, the financing of technology by Area Health Authorities and justifying expenditure, and the public and patients attitude towards spending priorities. The file includes copies of Working Party meeting minutes, copies of journal articles, drafts (with comments) of chapters of the Working Party's report, annotated copy of the report August 1982, copy of final version Sep 1982.
