Correspondence and papers relating to the Council for Science and Society Working Party on Expensive Medical Techniques in the NHS, on which the Patients Association was represented. The Working Party's remit was to discuss expensive diagnostic techniques, treatments and drug development, the increasing role of technology in medicine and its impact on society, the financing of technology by Area Health Authorities and justifying expenditure, and the public and patients attitude towards spending priorities.
