About this work
Description
The Annual Reports form the main about what the company was doing each year. In addition to the Annual Report and Accounts [WF/E/18/01] the collection contains the Chairman's Review [WF/E/18/02], a separate publication giving a more detailed analysis of the activities of the financial year. The Interim Results [WF/E/18/03] provide the half yearly figures.
These documents were produced for "public" consumption and, in the case of the Report and Accounts, as a legal requirement. The internal counterpart of these, aimed at the company staff, can be found under WF/HR/01 and WF/HR/02.
The audience for these reports altered in 1985/1986 when the Wellcome Trust ceased to be the sole shareholder. From then on investors and analysts were also the intended recipients.
