' Summary A metjod' is described for calculating accurately and rapidly the average height of the vector rods in the 3-dlinensional Patterson of haeiioglobin* The calculations have been carried out for the Pauling helix. They show that the simple models usually considered for haemeglobln give peaks which are much too high, and that to obtain agreement either less than half the protein must be put in the parallel chains, or considerable irregularity roust be introduced -
