Lettering

Siva is depicted in this image with a crescent moon on one side of his head and a stream of water on the other. This stream is an aquatic form of the goddess, Ganga, and the moon represents the goddess Sinivali

Notes

Part of a collection in an album of Company drawings ranging in subject-matter from social scenes, trades, religious scenes and deities, gardens, sports and portraits. All drawn in watercolour, some with pencil and oxidised gold, some similar to the Kalighat style
