    INTRODUCTION. The council of the Medical Society of London, having resolved, that I be requested to publish the annual Oration, which I was appointed to <leliver; and this request having been urged by many Fellows and Auditors present; I feel it a duty to obey the resolutions of the one, and to comply with the wishes of the other.
