    The author brings together the results, as far as they concern the mechanism of heredity, of several separate disci¬ plines, such as genetics, microbiology, medicine, biochemistry and bio¬ physics. All possible evidence indi¬ cates that the heredity determinants are special chemical substances. Ob¬ viously research on the chemistry of genes is of rapidly increasing import¬ ance, since it may provide a key to the problems of hereditary diseases, as well as to hereditary susceptibility, especially to cancer.
