About this work

Description

Edward Freeman is a UK-born thalidomider and is the current Chair of the Thalidomide Society. His parents fought hard for him to be educated at a mainstream state school and not to think of himself as in any way less able than anybody else. He married another thalidomider and they had two sons - Ed recounts many instances of prejudice against himself and his wife being parents. Ed now lives with a new partner and her two daughters and when not involved in Thalidomide Society work he is a talented artist. Ed has a cutting wit and loves science fiction (especially Dr Who). Parts 1 and 2 of the interviews took place in Ed’s home in Swindon on 24 July 2012. Part 3 took place in Ed’s home on 10 September 2012.
